Continue + nCompass: Bringing Google Gemma 3 to Your Development Workflow

We're excited to announce a new partnership with nCompass, bringing Google's cutting-edge Gemma 3 family of models to the Continue Hub! This integration exemplifies what we believe is the future of AI native development: giving developers access to the best models through an open ecosystem of choices.
The Power of Choice in AI Native Development
At Continue, we've always believed that developers should be amplified, not automated. A key aspect of this philosophy is providing choices that let you customize your AI code assistant to fit your specific needs, workflows, and preferences.
The rapidly evolving AI landscape means that new, more powerful models are constantly emerging. Rather than locking users into a single model option, Continue Hub is designed as an open platform where multiple providers can bring their unique strengths to your development workflow.
Introducing Gemma 3 via nCompass
Our latest partner, nCompass, is bringing Google's impressive Gemma 3 models to Continue. Gemma 3 represents a significant advancement in open-source large language models for coding and general tasks:
- Gemma 3-27B-IT: A high-performance model that competes with models 15× its size, perfect for complex coding assistance and in-depth conversations
- Gemma 3-4B-IT: A lighter, faster model ideal for quick code completions and suggestions
- Nomic-Embed-Text-v1: An advanced embedding model for semantic code search and context retrieval
What makes this integration special is nCompass's optimization layer. Their platform delivers exceptionally fast inference speeds—up to 30% faster than typical implementations—with no rate limits. This means near-instant responses and fluid autocompletion, even under heavy usage.
Why Model Choice Matters
The AI landscape is evolving rapidly, with new models emerging almost weekly. Different models excel at different tasks, and developer preferences vary widely. By partnering with providers like nCompass, we can ensure that:
- You can access the latest models as soon as they're available
- You have freedom to choose the right tool for your specific development needs
- You benefit from provider-specific optimizations that enhance performance
- You maintain control over your development environment
This partnership with nCompass exemplifies our commitment to building an open ecosystem where the best AI tools are accessible to all developers through a consistent, familiar interface.
